Grade 6 Healthy Eating Poster Assignment

The grade 6s will be working on their healthy eating posters after the new year. Posters will be created to meet their target audiences (grade 6-8 students) and will display facts and messages about healthy eating and active living.

Each group is required to follow the rubric below;

Healthy Eating Poster Rubric

These posters will be completed in-class and presentations will follow,

'Juice' and the Canada Food Guide

Throughout our healthy eating unit, students familiarized themselves with the 4 food groups and the recommended serving sizes for each respectively.

There was a great debate as to whether or not juice should be removed from the Canada Food Guide as it includes many additional sugars and sweeteners for added taste. It also loses its nutritional content and has a limited amount of nutrients when compared to having an actual fruit.

Here is an article to support this :)
